OWWA SCHOLARSHIP ALLOWANCE – Here is a complete guide on the details of the ODSP including the benefits for the scholars.

Are you an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who earns USD 600 or below in a month? Or are you a college son or daughter of an OFW who earns USD 600 or below monthly? You may be eligible to apply for the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or more popularly called OWWA.

The scholarship offer for the beneficiaries of OFWs who are earning USD 600 in a month or less is open not only for incoming first year students but as well as for those who are in their 2nd to 5th year in college. Here are the eligibility criteria depending on the aspiring scholar’s year level:

For incoming 1st year college students:

  • Single
  • Grade 11 graduate (Incoming Grade 12 / currently enrolled as Grade 12)
  • Not more than 21 years old
  • With a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% in all academic and non-academic subjects during the last school year attended in full load

For 2nd-5th year college students:

  • Single
  • Not more than 30 years old
  • With a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% in all academic and non-academic subjects during the last school year attended in full load

Aside from the eligibility criteria, there are documentary requirements for the OWWA scholarship application. Make sure to prepare and submit the documents before on or before the OWWA scholarship application deadline.

With regards to the OWWA scholarship allowance for the scholars, a scholar of the ODSP will receive P20,000.00 every year under the scholarship program.

If you are not a child or beneficiary of an OFW but you need a scholarship to be able to finish your tertiary education, you may turn to the scholarship offer of CHED or the Commission on Higher Education.
