YOUTUBE – The number one video-sharing platform announced that it will certify the channels of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals.

Nowadays, a lot of people are working at the comfort of their homes or just anywhere they are. Among these people are the vloggers who share different contents on YouTube, There are those who share their daily life updates while there are also those who share information on health, finances, career, etc.

In some cases, there are healthcare professionals who are not only offering services to their patients in-person but they also share their knowledge through the video-sharing platform. They usually posts videos of them explaining a certain disease or health condition including its causes, symptoms, and remedies.

The YouTube channels of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals which contain useful videos have really benefitted a lot of people. Recently, the video-sharing platform announced a huge move to certify these channels.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, YouTube announced that doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can apply so their channels would be certified. This will not only limit misinformation on the platform but as well as pave the way for an easy access for viewers to “high-quality health information”.

According to the report, healthcare professionals may also apply for the verification of their channels so their videos would be more reachable by the users in the platform. The company behind the video-sharing platform stressed that the move will expand it to include quality information from more healthcare professionals.

For the certification, the healthcare professional owner of the channel must offer proof of their professional licenses. Also, the YouTube channel to be certified must be in good standing.
