Great Deals CEO Speaks on Makeup Sales Following Mandatory Face Mask Protocol

MAKEUP SALES – The purchases of makeup showed growth after the national government lifted the mandatory face mask rule.

A lot of changes took place amid the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Restrictions were up on the mobility of the people and certain rules were also crafted and implemented to prevent the spread of the virus.

For more than a year, the mandatory face mask rule was implemented in the Philippines. It was just recently when the protocol was lifted in both indoor and outdoor areas. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the lifting of the rule boost the makeup sales in the country.

According to the report, Great Deals E-Commerce Corp Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steve Sy revealed that makeup sales grew by 37% during the 11.11 following the loosened restrictions on face mask. The wearing of face mask is now voluntary in both indoors and outdoors thus many women are probably back to applying makeup and lipstick.

Aside from the increase on the makeup sales, revenge travel was also noted. Sy cited a 108-percent growth in luggage as Pinoys start to travel again. Many are excited to finally visit new places and make new memories with their loved ones again.

Growth was also seen in the e-commerce industry but in a slow pacing. Based on the report, it is expected to expand next year. According to the Great Deals CEO, the industry grew around 40% although the traffic reduced. The e-commerce got a boost amid the high cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines after a lot of people turned to digital in getting their daily necessities amid the lockdowns in PH.
