Details about the Health Emergency Allowance of Healthworkers

HEALTH EMERGENCY ALLOWANCE – Here are the rates of allowance for the healthworkers based on the risk level of areas.

The healthworkers including nurses, doctors, and those individuals who are working in hospitals and health facilities are the most at risk in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus they are called the “frontliners” in the fight against the spread of the virus.

COVID-19 positive individuals have to be isolated. For those who are undergoing severe cases and needs hospital confinement, only the nurses and doctors can attend to them. Even their loved ones cannot take care of them.

Amid the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of doctors and nurses got sick after they contracted the disease from their patients. There were also instances when the workforce was on a challenging situation as most doctors and nurses were under isolation.

Health Emergency Allowance

The national government supports the healthcare frontliners through the health emergency allowance. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that it requested additional funding for the HEAs.

According to Health Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire, they requested P27 billion additional funds from DBM for the allowances of the healthcare workers. Based on the report, the amount covers the HEAs for the remaining months of 2022.

Based on the report, the health emergency allowance of the healthcare workers depends on the exposure level in the areas they are working at. Here are the rates based on the risk level of areas:

  • In low risk areas, healthcare workers shall be given a minimum of P3,000;
  • In medium risk areas, the healthcare workers shall be given at least P6,000; and
  • In high risk areas, the healthcare workers shall receive at least P9,000.

Currently, DOH awaits the response of the DBM regarding its request. The health department wants to release the allowances before Christmas.
