More commonly called GSIS, it is a state-run social insurance institution that opens its membership for those who are working in the government. Thus, its members are individuals who are currently working in the government and the public sector or those who have worked in the field before. It has a lot of pensioners.
Every month, members of GSIS pay a certain amount based on their salary as monthly contribution. It accumulates and is counted as savings in the social insurance institution. Accumulated contributions can qualify a GSIS member to benefits and loans offered by the social insurance institution.
