Many Filipinos are members of the Government Service Insurance System. More commonly called GSIS, it is a state-run social insurance institution that opens its membership for those who are working in the government. Thus, its members are individuals who are currently working in the government and the public sector or those who have worked in the field before. It has a lot of pensioners.

Every month, members of GSIS pay a certain amount based on their salary as monthly contribution. It accumulates and is counted as savings in the social insurance institution. Accumulated contributions can qualify a GSIS member to benefits and loans offered by the social insurance institution.

It is open for members of the social insurance institution who are working or living in areas declared under a state of calamity due to flood, earthquake, disease outbreak, etc.

Under the GSIS Calamity Loan offer, both members who have no existing loans and those who have existing loans but in good credit standing may apply. How much you can borrow under it?

  • Minimum Loanable Amount – P20,000.00
  • Maximum Loanable Amount – P40,000.00 (for members with existing loans)
