GSIS SCHOLARSHIP – Here is a guide on how much scholars may receive as allowance and tuition from the Government Service Insurance System.
Undeniably, a lot of parents can hardly send their children to college. Although there are a lot of state colleges and universities in the Philippines that offer affordable tuition, some households just really don’t have the needed budget.
Sending a child to college may require a lot in terms of finances. The parents have to prepare for the tuition fee per semester, the miscellaneous fees, the daily allowance for food and transportation, the projects, and the other expenses at school.

One of the government agencies that offer scholarships is the Government Service Insurance System. There is the GSIS Scholarship Program that targets to cater up to 400 scholars to college.
According to the social insurance institution, the target scholars are the children of GSIS members “with the lowest salary”. Previously, the program only funds 200 scholars but it has doubled now to 400 to help more children finish their tertiary education.
Under the GSIS Scholarship, the social insurance institution will shoulder the actual tuition fee of the scholar and as well as the miscellaneous fee with Php 40,000.00 limit per school year. The scholar will also be given an allowance of Php 3,000.00 every month.
Aside from funding the tuition fee and giving a monthly allowance to the scholars of the GSIS Scholarship, the students may also receive cash incentives in case they graduate with Latin Honors.
- Cum Laude – Php 20,000.00
- Magna Cum Laude – Php 30,000.00
- Summa Cum Laude – Php 50,000.00
