GSIS STUDENT SUBSIDY – Here is a guide on how much a student may receive under the subsidy offer of Government Service Insurance System.
While many believe that poverty is not a hindrance to success and many have actually proved it, not everyone was able to win the battle against it. Thus, the national government wants everyone who can to help those who are in need get opportunities for education which can be a key for a bright future.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously called for assistance to give help for those who are in need so that they can have education opportunities. In response to this, the Government Service Insurance System, more commonly known as GSIS, is offering a program that gives financial assistance for children or dependents of its members.
GSIS members who are on a permanent status in the office they’re working for with a salary grade of 24 or below and are updated in their premiums may apply for GSIS Student Subsidy for their children or dependent. The student must be in college or was accepted by a college or university for a 4-year or 5-year course.
With regards to the amount that a student will receive as GSIS Student Subsidy, the state-run insurance institution said that it is at Php 10,000.00 every year until they finished college. The student must maintain a general weighted average or GWA of 80% with no failing grade or incomplete remark in any subject.
To apply, the following must be prepared and submitted:
- affidavit stating that the student is not a scholar of other programs
- a certification from the college or university stating that the course, year level, and the duration of the student’s course
- report card
- application form from GSIS – www.gsis.gov.ph
