SSS Calamity Loan Program To Soon Be Opened for Members in Karding-Hit Areas
SSS CALAMITY LOAN OFFER – The Social Security System confirmed that they will open a program for calamity loans for typhoon Karding victims.
Recently, the Philippines was struck by super typhoon Karding which brought heavy rains and strong winds in several areas across the nation. Many people had no choice but to evacuate their homes before and during the typhoon. The heavy rains triggered flash flood in several areas.
Unfortunately, the wrath of super typhoon Karding caused the loss of lives and damages in structures. A lot of Filipino families lost their homes to the typhoon and are currently staying in evacuation centers.
Several government agencies moved to help the victims of super typhoon Karding. One of these entities is the Social Security System which confirmed that SSS Calamity Loan will be made available to typhoon Karding victims.
Based on a report on GMA News, the Social Security System said that it will open the Calamity Loan Assistance Program or CLAP to assist the victims of super typhoon Karding in areas declared under a state of calamity. According to SSS, the declaration must have been made by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

According to SSS president and chief-executive-officer Michael Regino, they are already finalizing the guidelines for the program. Based on the report, another program that the SSS intends to open alongside CLAP is for the pensioners.
The social insurance institution is set to open a program that will allow the Social Security(SS) and Employees’ Compensation (EC) pensioners in areas under a state of calamity due to typhoon Karding to avail a 3-month advance pension. The amount will be based on the monthly pension of the pensioner thus the proceeds may vary.
