SSS DISABILITY BENEFITS – Here is a complete list of what disabled members of the Social Security System are enttitled to.
In the Philippines, one of the state entities with millions of members is the Social Security System. More popularly called SSS, it is a giant in terms of social insurance and most of its members are locally-employed individuals in the private sector.
The Social Security System has several offers for its members such as the SSS benefits and SSS loans that attend to different situations. One of these situations is when disability happens. Members of the state-run social insurance agency may file for an SSS Disability Benefit claim.
The SSS Disability Benefit claim aims to provide the disabled member a financial resource while healing or dealing with the disability which can prevent the member from working. It covers the following disabilities:
Partial Disabilities
- one finger
- one hand
- one arm
- one foot
- one leg
- both ears
- hearing of one ear or both ears
- one eyesight
Total Disabilities
- complete loss of sight of both eyes
- loss of two limbs at or above the wrists or ankles
- permanent complete paralysis of two limbs
- brain injury that leads to incurable imbecility or insanity
- other cases of total disability approved by the SSS
Under the said benefit offer, a member may receive an SSS Disability Benefit amount based on whether he/she qualifies for an SSS Disablity Benefit pension or an SSS Disability Benefit lump sum. Aside from it, there are several other SSS Disability Benefits that a member is entitled to such as the following:
- PHP 500 monthly supplemental allowance
- PHP 1,150 additional benefit (granted by Executive Order 54 effective January 2017) given every month
- 13th-month pension paid every December
- PhilHealth hospitalization benefits for the following:
- are at least 60 years old and have paid 120 monthly Medicare contributions
- SSS members who became total disability pensioners and their dependents before RA 7875 took effect on March 4, 1995
- SSS members who became total disability pensioners and their dependents after RA 7875 took effect on March 4, 1995
Along with the other SSS Disability Benefits for the disabled members, the recipients may get the monthly pension or lump sum through any of the SSS-accredited banks which include the following:

- China Bank
- Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)
- Landbank of the Philippines
- Philippine National Bank (PNB)
- PSBank
- Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC)
- Security Bank
