SSS DISABILITY BENEFIT PENSION – Here is a guide on how much a disabled member may receive as Disability Pension from the Social Security System.

In the Philippines, among the people who have safety nets in many of the financially-challenging times are the members of the Social Security System. More popularly called SSS, it has designed offers that will help its members in times of disability, sickness, unemployment, etc.

The safety net crafted by the Social Security System for its members are in the forms of the many SSS benefits and SSS loans that members may qualify for. One of the benefit offers is the Disability Benefit or also called the Disability Claim.

The Social Security System’s Disability Benefit offer covers both partial and total disabilities. Qualified members may turn to the state-run social insurance institution in times of any of the following disabilities:

Partial Disabilities

  • one finger
  • one hand
  • one arm
  • one foot
  • one leg
  • both ears
  • hearing of one ear or both ears
  • one eyesight

Total Disabilities

  • complete loss of sight of both eyes
  • loss of two limbs at or above the wrists or ankles
  • permanent complete paralysis of two limbs
  • brain injury that leads to incurable imbecility or insanity
  • other cases of total disability approved by the SSS

To qualify for the benefit offer, a member must have posted at least one (1) monthly contribution prior to the semester of the disability. If the member has posted at least 36 monthly contributions, he/she may qualify to the SSS Disability Benefit pension.

How much is the SSS Disability Benefit Pension? Here the minimum pension for the disabled members based on the number of the credited years of service:

If the member has less than 36 monthly contributions, he/she may be granted an SSS Disability Benefit lump sum. The SSS Disability Benefit pension will be released through any of the SSS-accredited banks including the following:

  • Asia United Bank (AUB)
  • China Bank
  • Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)
  • Landbank of the Philippines
  • Philippine National Bank (PNB)
  • PSBank
  • Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC)
  • Security Bank
  • UnionBank

To file a claim, the member must submit the requirements for SSS Disability Benefit application. A doctor will check the member.
