With regards to its assistance for those who lost their job involuntarily, the Social Security System offers the SSS Unemployment Benefit. It covers a wide range of job loss including the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Based on the official website of the Social Security System, the following are those who are eligible to apply for the SSS Unemployment Benefit:

  • workers at least 60 years old and below who lost their jobs
  • have paid at least 36 monthly contributions
  • have not received any employment benefit in the last three (3) years
  • workers who lost their jobs due to economy fallback

Workers who lost their jobs due to other cases may also be eligible to apply for the SSS Unemployment Benefit depending on the assessment and decision of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

  2. I am a voluntary member of SSS. I would suppose to pay my voluntary contribution until April 30, 2020 but could not do so because of total lockdown in Santa Rosa, Laguna. When should i pay?

  4. Paano daw ma apply ni mama ung kanyang naihulog matagal na po syang wlang trabaho 1999 pa nka 34 na hulog lng daw po sya paano dw po nya makukuha Dec 12.1968 po ung birthday nya salamat po.

  7. How about employee that have worked for almost 10years and voluntarily resigned from work but nothing gained ,specially separation pay..
    Could this unemployed member also avail of unemployment benefits from sss?

    do I qualify for cash assistance?
    We were closed March 2020- Until Fisrt Week of May 2020 sue to COVID-19.
    Until to date…. we are not yet receiving walk-in customers….

  13. Greetings!., I am an SSS member. I am OFW who have lost job because I’ve been stranded for now ayear due to the Covid19 pandemic. Is it possible for me to apply for loan, though i have no idea how many months i already has been contributed.. Thank you and more power!
