More commonly called DSWD, the state-run agency has crafted a program wherein those who have the DSWD Solo Parent ID may receive benefit from the government. It is in line with the Republic Act 8972 or the Solo Parents Welfare Act.

Who are qualified to apply for assistance to DSWD?

The different assistance offers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) may bear individual and specific qualifications for application but, in general, the applicant must be:

  • a Filipino citizen
  • at least 18 years of age
  • having a valid ID
  • having a proof of income

Specific requirements in applying for the Solo Parent ID:

  • Solo parents who are left to rear their child alone due to the death of spouse, the spouse is sentenced to jail for at least a year, mental or physical capacity of the spouse to provide as certified by a public medical practitioner, legal separation for at least a year already, or the declaration of the nullity of marriage.

How much you may get?

The amounts given under the different offers of the DSWD may vary but, according to the government agency, most program’s maximum amount offered is up to Php 4,000.00.

How to Apply for DSWD Cash Assistance for Poor Filipinos?

  • Step 1 – Go to the main office or branch of DSWD nearest to you and ask for a copy of the documentary requirements needed in applying for the specific assistance you want to apply for.
  • Step 2 – Submit the documentary requirements.
  • Step 3 – According to DSWD, you will be asked to attend a short briefing where the program would be briefly discussed.
  • Step 4 – After the briefing, you will be asked to fill in the application form.
  • Step 5 – Once your application for assistance is approved, you will receive the grant or aid from DSWD.
