SSS MATERNITY BENEFIT AMOUNT – Here is a guide on how much a pregnant member will get from the Social Security System.
One of the benefits offered by the Social Security System (SSS) for its members specifically benefits the pregnant members of the state-run social insurance agency – the Maternity Benefit. It provides cash allowance for a pregnant member of the agency.
To qualify for the SSS Maternity Benefit, here are is the eligibility criteria set by the Social Security System:
- The member must have paid at least three (3) months of contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of childbirth or emergency termination of pregnancy.
- If employed, the member must have notified the employer about the pregnancy; or
- If self-employed, separated from employment, or an OFW, the member must have notified the SSS about the pregnancy.
With regards to the SSS Maternity Benefit amount, it may vary among the pregnant members of the state-run social insurance institution. The Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC) is a big factor in determining how much the pregnant member will get.
To get the SSS Maternity Benefit amount, here is the formula:
ADSC = Ave. MSC / 180
x 60 days for miscarriage/emergency termination of pregnancy
x 105 days for live childbirth (normal or caesarean section delivery)
x 120 days for solo parent under R.A. 8972 (Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000)
105 days + 15 days
Aside from the eligibility requirements, there are a few documentary requirements for SSS Maternity Benefit claim application. Remember that it is important to notify your employer, if you are employed, and the Social Security System, if you are self-employed, about your pregnancy at least 60 days from the date of conception.
