Currently, the Philippines is under a national crisis due to COVID-19, a pandemic that has infected nearly 2 million people across the globe. It claimed the lives of over 120,000 people worldwide.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the Social Security System offers SSS Calamity Loan 2020 to the members. Based on a report on GMA News, members may borrow Php 20,000.00 and the application can be done online.
According to the report, SSS Public Affairs and Special Division Head Fernan Nicolas expressed in an interview in Dobol B that they are already setting up the online application. It is because the people are advised to stay at home amid the fight against the spread of coronavirus.
