SSS SICKNESS BENEFIT – The members of the Social Security System (SSS) who got infected with COVID-19 may apply for assistance.
Recently, there is another spike in the COVID-19 cases and it prompted the national government to place Metro Manila under Alert Level 3. Initially, the capital region is under the said level until January 15 but it was further extended until the end of the month.
Several other cities outside Metro Manila with high cases of COVID-19 are under Alert Level 3 now. Many people are getting sick of COVID-19 and the government is trying to prevent a situation wherein hospitals would be congested with coronavirus patients again. For the asymptomatic and mild cases, most of the patients are doing home isolation.
For members of the Social Security System who got infected with COVID-19, you can turn to an assistance offer of the social insurance institution – the SSS Sickness Benefit.
Under the SSS Sickness Benefit, there is a daily cash allowance extended to the member for the time that he or she was not able to report to work due to sickness or injury. It is extended to both members who got confined or are at home sick for at least four (4) days.
Who may apply for the said benefit offer? To be qualified for the said offer, the member-applicant must have at least three (3) months of contributions within the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of sickness or injury.
