AirAsia Ticket Prices May Go Higher in July due to Rising Jet Fuel Costs

AirAsia Ticket Prices To Possibly Increase in July

AIRASIA TICKET PRICES – AirAsia Philippines confirmed that the prices of its flight tickets may go higher in July due to rising jet fuel costs.

Currently, the Filipinos are facing increases in prices of several products – oil products and basic goods and commodities. Several bakeries have increased their bread prices following the hike in the price of flour which was also affected by the price increase of wheat.

Among the several price increases on some products, the hike in oil prices is currently one of the biggest financial challenges that are affecting a lot of people. In fact, several public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers claim that they can hardly provide for the needs in their households because the high fuel costs take a huge cut from what they used to earn on a daily basis.

Several transport groups are calling for an increase in minimum fares. There are also calls for the suspension of the fuel excise tax.

However, Malacañang denied the calls for the suspension of fuel excise tax. According to the Palace, the budget is already intended to support some programs and projects of the government.

Amid the high jet fuel costs now, there were previous speculations that plane fares may increase in July. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, AirAsia ticket prices may go higher in July due to the high costs of jet fuel as confirmed by the airline company.

Speaking to ANC, AirAsia PH president Ricky Isla said that beginning July 1, between P350 to P1,050 may be implemented on AirAsia ticket prices as a fuel surcharge. It is in line with the guidelines released by the Civil Aeronautics Board.

Isla admitted that it’s a “very tough situation” but stressed that all airlines abide by the Civil Aeronautics Board regarding the fuel surcharge increase.
