The order of the granting of the survivorship pension is as follows:

  • Primary Beneficiaries
    • Legal spouse until he/she marries again, co-habits or engages in a common-law relationship
    • Legal, legally adopted or legal children, and illegitimate children of the deceased GSIS member who are minors or have reached the age of majority but still incapable of self-support
  • Secondary Beneficiaries
    • Parents

How Much Is GSIS Survivorship Pension? The exact amount may vary but the Government Service Insurance System has provided the percentage rate that the legal spouse and the minor children will get as a monthly survivorship pension. It is apart from the GSIS Funeral Benefit amount that the family may get.

According to GSIS, the surviving spouse will get 50% or half of the basic minimum pension of the deceased member. With regards to the Survivorship Pension of the minor children of the deceased GSIS member, every minor child will get an equivalent of 10% of the minimum pension of his/her deceased parent monthly until he/she reaches the age of majority.

There are requirements for the GSIS Survivorship Benefit claim for the legal spouse and the minor children of every deceased GSIS pensioner who passes the eligibility criteria.
