STUDENT PERMIT LTO FEE – Here is a guide on how much you must prepare in applying for a student permit to the Land Transportation Office.

Before driving, one of the things that you must secure is a driver’s license. In the Philippines, you may apply for it at the Land Transportation Office or more commonly called LTO.

LTO offers three (3) main types of driver’s license – the Student Permit, the Non-Professional Driver’s License, and the Professional Driver’s License. You need to pass by the “Student Permit” before you get to apply for the non-pro or pro driver’s licenses.

The Student Permit is valid for a year. If you are a Student Permit-holder, you may drive provided that you are with someone who holds a professional or non-professional driver’s license. It gives the holder a time to practice and improve his or her driving skills.

Who may apply for a Student Permit at LTO?

  • Filipino at least 16 years of age
  • Foreigner at least 18 years of age and have stayed in the Philippines for at least one (1) month with proof of residence
  • Individuals who are mentally and physically fit for driving
  • Individuals who have attended a minimum of 15 hours of theoretical driving lessons from any LTO-accredited driving school

There is a student permit LTO fee that you must be prepared of in getting the said initial permit to drive. The processing may take you an hour.

After at least a month of being an LTO Student Permit-holder without violations, you may apply for a non-professional driver’s license or a professional driver’s license. The former allows you to drive private vehicles while the latter is for those who will be driving public utility vehicles (PUVs) like bus, jeepney, tricycle, cabs, and taxi.
