One of the final benefits offered by the Social Security System (SSS) is the Retirement Benefit. There are two (2) types of benefits under it such as the Monthly Pension and the Lump Sum. You can check on its details below.
The retiring member must:
- within the age range of 60 to 64 years old, or at least 65 years old when submitting the claim;
- registered in the My.SSS facility on the Social Security System website;
- enrolledin a disbursement account in the Bank Enrollment Module of My.SSS (Acceptable options such as UMID-ATM, UBP Quick Card, or any bank accredited by PESONet);
- not possess any canceled or multiple Social Security (SS) numbers;
- not have any outstanding loan balance under the Stock Investment Loan Program, Privatization Fund Loan Program, Educational Loan Program, or Vocational Technology Loan Program.
Two Major Types of SSS Retirement Benefit
- Monthly Pension – This is open for retiring members who have posted at least a total of 120 monthly contributions.
- Lump Sum – This one-time payment is for members who have reached the age between 60 to 65 years but has not reached the required total of 120 monthly contribution for eligibility to the monthly pension.
*Meanwhile, if you have reach 60 years old and you have not reached 120 monthly contributions, you may continue paying for the premium until you are 65 years old or until you reach the required minimum contributions for monthly pension.
How much Pensioner May Get…

The one-time lump sum is “equal to the total contributions paid by the member and/or by his/her ERs, including the interest earned”.
