SSS DISABILITY BENEFIT 2024 – Here is a guide on how to file for a Disability Benefit claim to the Social Security System and the requirements.

In the Philippines, one of the best moves is to maintain an active and updated membership to the Social Security System. More popularly called SSS, this social insurance giant has several offers for its members that attend to different situations.

The SSS has loans that its members may turn to in the pursuit to meet several financial needs including the need for a house repair or home improvement. It also has the Calamity Loan that members living or working in calamity-stricken areas may turn to.

Aside from the loan offer, the Social Security System also has several benefit offers. One of them is the SSS Disability Benefit which members may turn to in times of both partial and total disabilities.

Step 1. Check the qualifications. To qualify, the member must meet any of the following conditions:

  • has paid at least 1 month of contribution before the semester of disability
  • has partial/total disability
    • one finger
    • one hand
    • one arm
    • one foot
    • one leg
    • both ears
    • hearing of one ear or both ears
    • one eyesight
    • complete loss of sight of both eyes
    • loss of two limbs at or above the wrists or ankles
    • permanent complete paralysis of two limbs
    • brain injury that leads to incurable imbecility or insanity
    • other cases of total disability approved by the SSS

Step 2. Prepare the documents needed. There are documentary requirements for SSS Disability Benefit application that the member must prepare.

Step 3. Submit your documents to SSS. The Social Security System has its own physician that checks the applicants for a Disability Benefit. Additional requirements may be asked by the doctor.

With regards to the SSS Disability Benefits, they include the SSS Disability Benefit pension and the SSS Disability Benefit lump sum. All the benefits will be released to the SSS member through any of the banks accredited to the state-run social insurance institution including the following banks:
